Why we chose this: whole peppercorns as opposed to crushed, giving you not just flavour but texture.
Hot pots just wouldn't be the same without them. Known for the way they numb and their combination of citrus and floral (lavender-like) notes, Sichuan red peppercorns are a full sensory experience.
Unbeknownst to some, they don't actually pertain much heat. But often used in combination with red chilis, they are guilty by association and hence make the perfect partner in crime for winter-warming dishes.
Taste: Lemon, lavender, pepper, tongue-numbing.
Uses: Add a couple pinches in hot pots, stir fry, combine it with sichuan oil for a noodle sauce.
